In June 2013 Theatre In the Raw was delighted to tour three original one-act plays around BC. On the first leg we traveled to the BC interior to several towns: Princeton, Cawston, Merritt, and Spences Bridge. We were very satisfied by the result of these performances and we were received very warmly by these communities and had many great houses and even heard some comments from people that it was the first live theatre event they had ever seen! We took two winning plays from the 2011 One-Act Contest: the 1st place play The Suspect, as well as finalists Maybe Miles and Talk Medicine. Theatre In the Raw is happy to have had the opportunity to tour through such places. The second leg of the tour consisted in four nights in Vancouver and the company was equally happy to perform for our hometown audiences.

>>> The One-Act Plays:

Maybe Miles by Joe Lauinger - The play focuses on an awkward encounter between a University professor and one of his former masters students at a strip club he is patronizing and where she happens to work.

Talk Medicine by Sheryl Melnyk - The monologue centres on a man reminiscing after suffering a heart attack, and his need to talk to ease his stress. The play focuses on the development of his moral character and the various ethical 'forks in the road' that he has faced. This presentation is an adaptation of TITR's twenty-third original radio play recently presented and broadcast on Vancouver Co-Op Radio's Arts Rational program.

The Suspect by Andrzej Jar - The Suspect is a piece focused on a man being harassed by a group of supposed government agents and radical anarchists. His lifestyle collapses around him as he becomes increasingly withdrawn and angry, realizing he has been made the mark for some political subterfuge and deception far beyond him.
